Asus first USB 3.0 and Sata 6.0 product line

Asus is getting ready for the coming flood of new USB “super speed” products with their new product line, featuring a new extreme motherboard and a PCI-E card, both featuring USB 3.0 as well as Sata 6.0 slots.

The motherboard is the P7P55D-E premium motherboard.

It features two USB 3.0 ports which are being powered by a dedicated controller since Intel’s P55 Chipset doesn’t have USB 3.0 support. It also has 10 USB 2.0 ports, 2 Sata 6Gb/s ports, 6 Sata 3Gb/s ports, dual Gigabit ethernet and 2 PCI-E x16 slots. Now that’s alot of data transfer capability. The board is currently not available yet but should be released soon.

The next device is their PCI-E expansion card.

It features 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as 2 Sata 6Gb/s ports.

Of course there aren’t many devices that support USB 3.0 right now (including Intel) but we expect them to be coming to market within the next 12 months or so. This will trickle down to the netbook market as well and we can’t wait.
