Yesterday we received word how the former Crunchpad was rebranded as the JooJoo and was available for pre-order on Friday. Well Cnet has gotten their hands on one for a hands-on look at the new tablet. Video at the end of the post.
The JooJoo features a 12.1″ 720p 1366 x 768 capacitive touchscreen. It has a built in accelerometer, webcam, mic, speakers, 1 usb port, and a card reader. There’s a 4GB SSD drive but no other storage, it’s meant to all be stored on “the cloud”.
It uses a proprietary Linux based OS who’s only purpose is to boot into a browser (sounds exactly like Google Chrome doesn’t it).

There are no buttons except for the power button, and the device is under 3 pounds. The battery life is under 5 hours though, and the price of $499 might not go over too well with most consumers.
They said the device is very nice to handle, and if the price ever comes down these things might start selling like hotcakes. Would you spend $500 on the JooJoo?
