The Samsung NC10 is one of the strongest competitors in the netbook market. It has an Intel Atom N270 processor and 1GB of RAM. The RAM is 800MHz so it’s a little faster than the standard 600MHz RAM that other netbooks have. It has a matte finish display like the Eee PC which some people prefer so there are no reflections which is nice. It has all of the other standard hardware:

  • 10.2″ LED backlit 1024×600 display
  • Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor with 533MHz front-side bus and 512KB level 2 cache
  • 160GB SATA hard drive, 1GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
  • 802.11 b/g wifi, Bluetooth 2.0
  • 6 cell lithium-ion batter good for 8 hours (max) of battery life more like 7
  • Windows XP home with service pack 3
  • 1.3megapixel webcam
  • 2.9lbs

The NC10 has all of the standard netbook hardware you’ve come to expect from the likes of Asus and Acer, but also has a few extra goodies. The RAM included with the NC10 is 800MHz which is very fast, and Bluetooth is included which is nice. The nicest thing about the NC10 is probably its price which is currently at $329 from Amazon.

The keyboard on the NC10 is very nice, the keys have beveled edges and the button layout is very easy to type on with the large shift buttons and being 95% of full-size. Also the direction keys on the bottom right of the keyboard are larger than other netbooks and protrude slightly farther than the other keys, making them easier to use.

There are 3 external USB ports, a 10/100 ethernet plugin and a vga output. The outside of the NC10 (blue model) is very nice and shiny and looks like it has a light metal flake in it, and it’s also a fingerprint magnet. The display looks very good and is bright and has a matte finish which some people prefer to the glossy screens.

Overall the NC10 is a very high quality netbook that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quality netbook for the price. It’s currently available at Amazon here for $329 at time of review.
