Sometime soon the Alienware M11x gaming netbook will be available and if you’re looking for an extreme gaming netbook then this is it. Of course it will run you $799, but have you ever heard of a netbook getting a 7000 on 3DMark06! What about running Crysis at 50 fps. This is due to the switchable graphics cards, the gaming one being the Nvidia GT335M 1GB GPU.
This netbook has been under development for the last 5 years, and of course it includes all of the usual Alienware touches (backlit keyboard, custom paint, etc). The release data for this netbook has been rumored as early as Wednesday of this week to “sometime in spring”, but we’ll hope it’s closer to the former. Here are the specs on this beast:
- Processor: Intel Core2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz (dual core)
- Graphics: Discrete (Nvidia GeForce GT335M 1GB) + Integrated
- Video outputs: DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA
- Display: 11.6″ 1366 x 768 LCD glossy
- 802.11 b/g/n wifi, 3G broadband
- Windows 7
- 6.5 hour battery life, ≈2 hours in full gaming mode
- 3 x usb 2.0 ports, firewire
- weight: 4lbs
- msrp: $799
- webcam, case lighting, backlit keyboard, etc
Here are some pics:

And a video of the M11x running Left for Dead 2 at full fps and graphic settings on high except for aa turned off.

It’s not a netbook.
it’s 11.6″ with no dvd drive so I call it a netbook, but it definitely pushes the limits- especially the price
