The ASUS Eee PC 1005PR has recently popped up on the product pages over at Asus, and it’s a very nice upgrade to the now best-selling 1005PE. It keeps all of the specs the same except for an HD 1366 x 768 10.1″ display and a Broadcom crystal HD accelerator card for HD video playback. There’s no word yet on pricing or availability but look for it to come in under $400.

Here are the full specs:
- Display: 10.1” 1366 x 768
- Processor: 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450
- Wireless: 802.11b/g/n + bluetooth 2.1+EDR (optional)
- Broadcom BCM70015 HD accelerator card
- 250GB HDD
- 1GB RAM
- 0.3M webcam
- VGA, 3x USB, card reader, audio jacks, LAN
- 6-cell battery (63Wh, 11 hours) or (48Wh, 9 hours)
- Windows 7 Starter + Express Gate
- Available in black, white, blue or pink
With the HD card it seems that there would be an HDMI out option, but it’s still stuck with VGA. Also notice that it comes loaded with the Express Gate software, which allows for a quicker boot-time with limited functionality. Basically the boot time goes from 30 seconds to 15, and you can only use the web and email. In my opinion it’s worth the extra wait for the real deal.
