According to a report from the download squad HTC is planning a new iPad competitor that runs the Google Chrome OS and will launch on Verizon networks on Black Friday. This is big news and according to a reputable “source” it’s the real deal and the tablet is already made and ready to go.
Here are the specs (not finalized yet):
- NVidia Tegra 2 platform
- 1280×720 multitouch display
- 2GB of RAM
- minimum 32GB SSD
- WiFi/Bluetooth/3G connectivity
- GPS
- webcam
- possibly expandable storage via a multi-card reader
Since this thing will launch on Verizon it will likely be heavily subsidized, and this is good news as we will likely be able to pick one up for $199 or less with a data plan.
With its strong hardware specs and low price point, this tablet could give the iPad a run for its money this holiday season.
