People have just started to get their hands on netbooks with the newer N470 processor, but how does it compare to the N450? Well we know that the processor is identical except for a slightly faster clock speed (1.66GHz vs 1.83GHz), so we didn’t expect any major performance boost. Peter at netbooked compared two identical Lenovo netbooks (IdeaPad S10-3 and IdeaPad S10-3s), the only difference being the processor. Here are the results:
S10-3 Windows Experience Score
S10-3 Windows Experience Score
As you can see the results are basically what we expected, with the cpu getting a slightly higher rating, but what we didn’t expect was a slight drop in the graphics performance though both of these are so small that they will be imperceptible to the normal user.
So in conclusion the N470 processor makes no noticeable difference and is just meant as a minor update to help sell new models, but that’s to be expected. What we’re really looking forward to is the N500 dual-core. That will be a real upgrade.
