The Acer Aspire One AO722 is a netbook with strong design features, a long battery life and the Windows 7 operating system. This is an ideal laptop if you are looking for a simple portable computer to help you accomplish all your daily computing tasks. There are several drawbacks to this device, including a slower processor and the lack of several advanced features.
This netbook features an 11.6-inch display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. The screen is almost 2 inches larger than most netbooks, but watching movies and even streaming flash videos is difficult on this device because of the slow processor. However, even with the slow 1GHz processor you can still browse the web, run microsoft office, or play on facebook with no problems. You can see it here compared to a 10″ netbook:
The Acer Aspire One is only 1 inch thick, making it one of the thinnest laptops we saw. It weighs 3.21 pounds, making it lightweight and enhancing its portability. This laptop is also an ENERGY STAR qualified device, meaning it is energy-efficient.
The Acer Aspire One features the AMD Dual-Core C-50 processor. This processor features a clock speed of 1GHz, making it much slower and less powerful than several similar devices. This processor works well to accomplish basic computing tasks, but it won’t provide the power you will see in other devices. This laptop also features the ATI Radeon HD 6250 graphics card, which isn’t great but would be decent with a faster cpu. The Windows 7 Home Premium operating system is also included on this device.
You will find basic features available on this laptop computer. Wi-Fi connectivity and an Ethernet port are both available; however, there is no Bluetooth technology available. A memory card reader is located on the device, which supports several memory card options including SD and MMC cards. There are three USB ports located on the device, along with a VGA port and an HDMI port. The HDMI port is a benefit, because it allows you to connect the laptop to a large monitor or an HDTV for a more enhanced viewing experience. There is not a large selection of multimedia features, but the Acer Aspire One does include a webcam and a built-in microphone for video chats and web conferences.
There are 2GB of RAM and 250GB of hard drive space on this laptop computer. This is the smallest hard drive we saw on the laptops in our comparison, but we were not surprised for such a basic computing device. In addition, there is 9-hour battery life with this Acer netbook. This is a significant amount and provides plenty of time for completing all your computing tasks, and it’s a large benefit when taking the laptop with you on business or from class to class.
If any problems, concerns or questions arise while using this laptop computer, you can reach a customer service representative through email, phone or live chat support. The Acer website also provides driver and software downloads. However, they do not provide a user forum for additional feedback and assistance, which we found as a drawback. But there is a one-year warranty included on this device. However, for less than $300 from Amazon you can’t be too picky with this netbook.
