Asus TF101 Transformer tablet launching April 26th

Asus has finally announced the US availability date of it’s Tablet/netbook combo, and it’s April 26th. The tablet is sold out everwhere for the moment, though, but you can still preorder one for $399 from amazon. The TF101 Transformer is a 10.1″ tablet computer that comes with a laptop dock, letting it function as a netbook also.

The tablet features an NVIDIA® Tegra™ 2 dual-core processor to power its Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system. It has the ASUS Waveshare interface skin which makes for a nice user interface. This is designed to make the Transformer’s media playback, social networking and game play features quick and simple to access.

Other software that comes pre-installed with the Transformer is MyLibrary, MyNet, MyCloud, a file manager and a PC Sync utility. More apps can be downloaded using a WiFi network conforming to WLAN 802.11 b/g/n specifications at 2.4GHz. Bluetooth is included as well.

The display is 1280×800 resolution with LED backlighting and can output HD video at 720p while the built-in SRS Sound technology provides a dynamic 3D stereo audio. Videos shot using the rear-facing 5MP camera can be output to an HDTV via a mini HDMI 1.3A output port (at 1080p, according to ASUS). There’s also a 1.2MP camera on the front that is designed for video conferencing. Other interface options on the tablet include a 2-in-1 Audio Jack (Headphone/Mic-in) and Micro SD card reader. Also in the specs is optional Adobe® Flash® 10.2 support that can be obtained through an upgrade available online at the Android Market.

The reviews so far are very good for the tablet, and if it’s ever in stock again I’m sure people will be waiting in line to get one.

Ramos to launch 3 new tablets at CES

Ramos will introduce two new 8 inch tablets and a phone-sized device with 3.8 inch screen at CES next week. All three have ARM-based chips and run Android.

The Ramos W12 will have an 8 inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, an ARM Cortex-A9 chip, and Mali-400 graphics.

The Ramos W15 will be powered by a Rochip RK2918 Cortex-A8 chip and have an 8 inch, 16:9 display. Both tablets will run some version of Google Android.

The Ramos W10 features a smaller 3.8 inch display and an ARM Cortex A9 CPU, Mali-400 3D graphics, and 512Mb of DDR2 memory. It runs Android 2.2 and looks to compete with the iPod touch and similiar devices.

Amazon is having a year end electronics sale with some great deals. Here are a few:

ASUS Eee PC 1015PN for just under $400 including Intel Atom N550 dual core 1.5 GHz processor and Nvidia ION 2 graphics.

Lenovo Ideapad S10 10.2″ for only $334.

These deals won’t last long so if you’re looking at getting a new netbook now is the time.

The latest and greatest netbook is now shipping from Amazon, the Asus Eee PC 1015PN. It features a dual-core N550 Atom processor and the next-generation Nvidia Ion2 graphics. This enables the playback of HD video and even has a HDMI output for connecting to an external monitor or tv.

Google TV is here

Google TV is now up for preorder on Amazon, and it’s already climbing its way up the best-sellers list (even though it hasn’t been released yet).

It comes in the way of the $299 Logitech Revue box with a special keyboard with a built-in trackpad. The Logitech box connects in between your cable box and TV through HDMI and brings the magic of Google TV to your viewing experience.

If you’ve been looking at hooking up a computer to your tv to access HULU and other online entertainment then now is your chance, and for $299 the price is just about right. Check out their page here to read more.

The Dell Duo hybrid tablet/netbook

Dell introduced their new Duo the other day, and it has a very unique flip-style display that turns it into a tablet. I prefer the swivel method myself but it still looks pretty cool: Here’s a video:

It features a 10 inch screen, dual core N550 Atom processor, and Windows 7 Premium. No price announced yet.

RIM unveils 7-inch “playbook” tablet

RIM just unveiled their new 7 inch tablet which will be called the “playbook” and will launch early next year. It will feature a dual core 1GHz processor, have dual HD cameras and hdmi out among other things. Looks like this has the potential to blow the iPad out of the water. The GUI looks very smooth and multitasking looks good as well, here’s the video:

ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM first dual core netbook available now

The Asus Eee PC 1015PEM isn’t the first dual-core netbook to be announced, but it’s the first to be available. It features the new N550 1.5GHz dual core Atom processor along with Bluetooth 3.0 and DDR3 RAM.

Toshiba Folio 100 Tablet PC announced

Toshiba has announced today that by year’s end they will release a new 10.1″ tablet pc that runs on the Google Android OS. The tablet will be available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa but no word on whether they will sell in the US or Japan.
