Sound impressive? The Canoe Lake platform recently announced by Intel was shown today running inside a netbook that is less than 0.5″ thick. The big gap below the monitor looks a little strange, but I guess there’s a few trade-offs for being that thin. What’s impressive is that the Canoe Lake platform will have a GPU capable of at least 720 video playback, most likely the Intel GMA 3150. Here’s Netbook News hands-on video:
Pixel Qi screen compared to iPad in direct sunlight
The Pixel Qi we first heard about last November was on display at the Computex computer show the other day, and someone there had the bright idea to take it outside and compare it to an iPad in direct sunlight. I bet you can guess which one was easier to read; take a look at the following video to find out.
Asus EeePad tablets unveiled at Computex
Asus unvelied 2 Eeepad tablet PC’s at Computex in Tapiei on Monday. The first tablet, the EP121, sports a 12.1 inch capacitive touchscreen with Windows 7 Home Premium and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The device can run up to 10 hours between charges, and is built for multimedia viewing as well as a built-in e-reader. There is also an available dock with a keyboard if you don’t want to use the onscreen one.
There are 2 avialable docking stations, one that just has a keyboard and the second which basically turns the Eeepad into a laptop.
VIA $100 tablets coming this year
VIA has recently announced that they will start shipping out Android tablets in the $100 to $150 range sometime this year. These tablets will feature the company’s “PRIZM SmartTouch platform” which combines a low power ARM_based processor with the Google Android OS and long battery life.

Acer announces 10.1″ Acer Aspire one 360
Acer has announced several new AMD powered netbooks recently, but there is yet another that has just been announced. This one is powered by an Atom processor and adds a few new features such as: multitouch trackpad, flush battery, and no ports on the bottom for a flush design.
