The new Sony Vaio P series has just been officially announced around the globe, and Engadget has just put up their review of the sub-notebook. Basically it’s the same as other Vaio’s but they’ve added an accelerometer for navigating the web and a faster Intel Atom Z560 processor. So is the slightly new design and updated components worth $800?
There have been many rumors about a so called “Google” tablet, which the company denies. Well Adobe showcased some of their apps on a cool looking new unnamed tablet (maybe the Google tablet?) at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco. The apps ran amazingly smooth and quick, and if the whole user experience on this tablet is as smooth as the demo it might start eating into some of the iPad sales.
A sleek new 12.1″ netbook has been discovered from Asus. It is a higher end model than the current 1201n, with higher build quality, a slimmer design, and a one piece all-aluminum enclosure. The ports are all located in the back and it’s rumored to have Nvidia Ion graphics (maybe next generation). Here are a few pics:
There are a few more Asus 1201 models coming, but don’t hold your breath for anything spectacular. The 1201X and 1201K models look to be bargain priced options of the current 1201n chassis (minus the Ion graphics). Here is a side comparison of the different models:
People have just started to get their hands on netbooks with the newer N470 processor, but how does it compare to the N450? Well we know that the processor is identical except for a slightly faster clock speed (1.66GHz vs 1.83GHz), so we didn’t expect any major performance boost. Peter at netbooked compared two identical Lenovo netbooks (IdeaPad S10-3 and IdeaPad S10-3s), the only difference being the processor. Here are the results:

It looks like the Asus Eee PC 12.1″ 1201PN netbook coming soon won’t support Nvidia’s Optimus switching technology, but it will have the next generation of ION graphics. Notebook italia reports that there is another new model coming though, the 1215N, and it will have both a dual core Atom N500 processor as well as Optimus switching graphics.
The Asus Eee Keyboard has just become available for preorder, and already there’s an unboxing video. The folks at Netbooknews got ahold of the model that’s about to ship and ripped it open to see what’s included, which is basically everything you would expect.
