There are a few more Asus 1201 models coming, but don’t hold your breath for anything spectacular. The 1201X and 1201K models look to be bargain priced options of the current 1201n chassis (minus the Ion graphics). Here is a side comparison of the different models:

Asus Eee PC 1201PN won’t have Optimus, 1215N will
It looks like the Asus Eee PC 12.1″ 1201PN netbook coming soon won’t support Nvidia’s Optimus switching technology, but it will have the next generation of ION graphics. Notebook italia reports that there is another new model coming though, the 1215N, and it will have both a dual core Atom N500 processor as well as Optimus switching graphics.
Asus Eee PC 1201T is official
Well the Asus Eee PC 1201T finally has its own product page up on the Asus website. You may remember the other 1201 models from Asus including the 1201HA and the recently reviewed 1201N. The 1201T goes with the 1.6GHz AMD MV40 processor instead of the N330 in the 1201n, and also uses Radeon HD3200 graphics.
| 1201HA | 1201N | 1201T | |
| Processor | 1.33GHz Z520 | 1.2GHz N330 dual core | 1.6GHz AMD MV40 |
| RAM | 1GB (up to 2GB) | 2GB | 2GB |
| HD size | 160GB | 250GB | 250GB |
| Graphics | GMA 500 | Nvidia Ion | Radeon HD3200 |
| Screen size | 12.1″ | 12.1″ | 12.1″ |
| Battery life | 6hr 38mins | 4hrs | 6hrs |
| Price | $329.99 | $499.99 | $499.99 (estimated) |
Even though this setup will stream HD video no problem there is no HDMI output.
No word yet on availibility or pricing but with the 1201n already out and a product page up it shouldn’t be too long.
Asus Eee PC 1201N hands on
Well the Asus Eee PC 1201n won’t be shipping until Jan 15th but you can preorder one now for $499. The specs on this netbook/notebook are pretty impressive, it features the N330 dual core processor and Nvidia Ion graphics. This beast has no problem outperforming other netbooks and pushing HD graphics.
The folks at blogee have already done a review and found that the 1201n is capable of playing games with the graphics settings turned up to a reasonable level, and HD videos are no problem. With the dual core processor comes a lot of power consumption though. Looping an HD video resulted in a 2 hour and 45 minute battery life from a 6 cell unit. At a more reasonable setting of half rss reading and half video watching the battery lasted 4 hours and 45 minutes, which is a little more realistic.
The dual core processor does put out a little heat as you can imagine, the heat map looks like there’s a hair dryer inside the netbook.

Apart from some comments about the battery not fitting very snugly the overall impression was that this is definitely a perfect in-between if you can’t decide between a powerful netbook or a cheap laptop. And the $499 price tag doesn’t hurt either.

Asus Eee PC 1201N unboxed
The Asus Eee PC 1201N is now up for pre-order as you saw in our post earlier today, and already Electricpig has gotten their hands on one for an unboxing. Here are some pics of this 12.1″ beast of a netbook:

compared with an 8.9 incher, this screen is massive (for a netbook)

nice chiclet keyboard

the standard bump textured touchpad

vga and HDMI outputs, very nice
We can’t wait to get a review for this netbook, but since it doesn’t ship until Jan 15th we will probably have to wait a little while.
Asus Eee PC 1201N pre-order
We saw earlier that Best Buy had the Eee PC 1201HA available, but what we were really waiting for was the Nvidia Ion powered 1201N. This monster netbook includes a 12.1″ screen and a dual core processor. Here are the full specs:
- Intel Atom Dual Core N330 Processor 1.6GHz
- 2GB DDR2 RAM, 2 x SODIMM Slot, 8GB Max
- 250GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) + 500GB Free Web Storage; NVidia ION Platform

The preorder price right now is $499 at Amazon, and we can expect that this price will come down over time. The 1201N will be the hottest new release netbook of 2010 and you can reserve one here.
They’ll be shipping Jan 15th and come in black or silver.
