Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 with new Atom N455 now available

We’ve known that the new Intel Atom N455 processor would be available sometime soon and the Lenovo Ideapad S10-3 looks to be one of the first available for purchase. The N455 processor is only different from the N450 in that it’s compatible with DDR3 RAM, which should be a small but noticeable performance boost for certain processes.

All of this is available for only $299, which is a really great price for such a great netbook. Here are the full specs:

Lenovo Ideapad U1 Hybrid netbook coming soon

Remember the Ideapad U1 hybrid netbook/tablet we talked about in January? Well it looks like it’s actually coming to market sometime soon as Lenovo has put a page up about it on its homepage. It’s not a product page but just a teaser page so they can get your email, but still a good sign that it’s on track for its June release.

The U1 is a very cool looking netbook with a detachable screen that also functions as a tablet due to its own onboard processor and RAM.

When the display is plugged into the keyboard it uses an Intel CULV processor, but when removed the display uses a built-in Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor and has built-in 3G as well. Here are the specs:

Intel CULV processor
4GB RAM (512MB in the tablet)
128GB SSD (16GB SSD inside tablet)
eSATA, vga, HDMI, usb x 2, 1.3mp webcam
Windows 7 (custom Linux in tablet mode)

The battery life is around 8 hours in netbook mode and around 5 hours for tablet mode, but this is with 3G turned on. The whole setup weighs 3.7 lbs which isn’t too bad for two devices in one.

It’s supposed to be released in June with a price of close to $1000.

Lenovo S10-3S super slim netbook up for pre-order

The recently announced Lenovo S10-3S model is finally up for preorder on Amazon for $349.99. This netbook is the same as the normal S10-3 model except that it has a thinner form factor (the S stands for slim). It’s 0.9″ at the back and 0.6″ at the front, making it one of the thinnest out there. Here are the full specs:

As you can see it has the standard netbook hardware, but if you’re looking for something a little thinner than usual with a great keyboard (and a good price) then you may want to get on the preorder list for one of these. Look for them to start shipping soon.

Lenovo Ideapad U1 Hybrid netbook/tablet

The Lenovo Ideapad U1 introduced at CES this year is one of the most unique netbooks ever. It appears to be a normal Ideapad netbook with all of the usual specs, but the 11.6″ display can be removed and used as a stand-alone tablet.

You can see in the last video that the custom Linux Skylight UI is very nice and responsive. It also supports multitouch, but the software isn’t quite ready for release yet. They should have all of the kinks ironed out by the time it’s officially released on June 1st for $999.

Asus TF101 Transformer tablet launching April 26th

New 11.6″ Lenovo Thinkpad coming?

Wireless goodness has spotted an interesting filing at the good old FCC website today. It appears that Lenovo is getting one of their wifi cards passed through (named the mini10), but in the filing they mentioned something interesting, a previously unnamed Thinkpad Mini 11.

As you can see in the pic the device is listed as a notebook (there’s not a netbook category at the FCC yet) and the hosts for the wifi card are listed as the Thinkpad X100e and the Thinkpad Mini 11. You may remember the X100e was dug up last week at netbooknews.de but the Thinkpad Mini 11 has never been mentioned before.

Could this be a leaked reference to an upcoming 11.6″ Thinkpad? We’ll have to wait and see for more details to arrive, but we’ll keep you posted.

New Lenovo 10.1″ netbook coming

Well it looks like Lenovo is planning a new 10.1″ netbook as it’s passing through the FCC right now. The documents indicate that the new netbook will have a 10.1″ screen, the usual external ports, as well as an HDMI out port. This indicates that the device will have strong graphics performance (Nvidia Ion maybe?).

Another interesting item is the addition of 850/1900 HSDPA data communication, so you can get your wireless broadband on the go with this bad boy. The filings don’t mention any other details but we’ll keep you posted if we hear more.

Lenovo Ideapad first Pineview netbook?

We all know that the Pinetrail processor platform is coming in January, but what is going to be the first netbook with this new technology? It may be the Lenovo Ideapad, which is making its way through FCC approval right now.

Here’s what it looks like (the FCC doesn’t know how to wipe off fingerprints before taking pictures):

One interesting thing you’ll notice is that there are no trackpad buttons, suggesting an apple mighty-mouse type click operation. We’ll have to wait and see how (or if) that one works out or not. It will be nice to see what the new Pineview platform can do in terms of performance.

Here are the specs that we know of so far:

2GB Samsung RAM
250GB hard drive (5400rpm)
10.1″ 1024 x 600 display

Since Intel isn’t budging on the Jan release date for their new processors it looks like we will have to wait until then to get our hands on this netbook.
