The Samsung NB30 is Samsung’s new netbook featuring the N450 processor. What makes this netbook different from all the rest is that it’s durable, and we mean really durable. You’ll notice the rubberized coating on the lid which will help resist cracks, dings (and fingerprints) and the hard drive has a drop sensor which parks the heads so that it can withstand falls of up to 30″.

Another interesting item to note is that the keyboard can withstand spills of up to 50cc of liquid on the keyboard (a glass of water). So if you have a problem with dropping your netbook 3 feet or so and like to spill coffee on the keyboard while you’re typing the NB30 is what you need. Here are the full specs:

  • Processor: 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450
  • Intel GMA 3150 graphics
  • Display: 10.1″ 1024 x 600
  • Memory: 1GB (up to 2)
  • HD: 160GB
  • 3 x usb

The price of $379 is pretty reasonable considering the extras, and it’s still on pre-order from Amazon but should start shipping shortly.

Samsung N220 Pine trail netbook

Samsung N220 Pine trail netbook

We knew that Samsung had 2 new netbooks coming featuring the Pine trail processor, but it appears that there is a third. The N220 appears to be an updated version of the N140 with the new Atom N450 processor and some cool new colors. The other hardware specs appear to be the same as the N140:

  • Display: 10.1″ 1024 x 600
  • 1GB ram
  • 250GB hard drive
  • Windows 7 starter
  • 802.11 b/g/n wifi and bluetooth
  • 11.5 hours battery life

As you can see the amazing thing here is the battery life. We were expecting longer battery lives with the new processor due to its power efficiency, but this looks to be the first netbook to take advantage of it.

Oh and did I mention that this netbook is already listed for sale on a french website. We expect to hear more about this netbook shortly and will keep you updated.

Samsung NB30 and N150 Pine Trail netbooks coming soon

Samsung is joining the Pine Trail party with their new NB30 and NB150 10.1″ netbooks (spotted hanging around the FCC website). Both netbooks have identical specs except for one, the NB30 will have a touchscreen (according to blogee.net). Here are the specs:

  • 10.1” 1024 x 600 display (touchscreen on the NB30?)
  • Atom N450 processor
  • 160GB HDD
  • 1GB RAM
  • GMA 3150 graphics
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • 10/100 LAN
  • 6-cell 4400mAh battery (7 hours)
  • 0.3M Webcam
  • Windows 7 Starter.
  • 3x USB (1 chargeable), VGA, LAN, audio jacks, 3-in-1 card reader
  • 10.4” x 7.4” x 0.99” – 1.05” dimensions
  • 2.73 lbs weight
  • $373.95- (at neobits)

You can also see in the FCC filings that they both use a Gobi2000 chipset which include 3G data and GPS. We’ll have to wait and see if these are implemented, and whether or not the NB30 is a touchscreen but all will be revealed on Jan 15th at good old CES.
